Cleary (NY) v. Gibson Dunn (NY)

Edit: I am only interested in working in NY and I do not think I will stay in big law for the long term. I am leaning heavily towards litigation but want to be able to try some transactional work. I have liked the people at both firms. I am concerned that Cleary is too corporate-focused despite being a band 1 firm for litigation. As for Gibson, I am concerned about the free market system and being in their NY Office (compared to DC or CA). Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I summered at Cleary. They are not too corporate focused. They have a huge/awesome lit dept. Awesome work too. Was involved in some SEC stuff and LIBOR stuff this summer. Tons of other lit stuff too. A little (a lot) light on IP lit though so if that is your focus go elsewhere. Also, if you're not sure what you want to to do Cleary is extremely flexible.
