Dealing with new (later) graduation date

Looks like I'll be graduating in December of next year instead of May (long story). But I have been mass mailing as a 3L and received several rejections -- including one yesterday from a firm that had asked me for additional info. Should I re-apply to the same firms asking for an SA instead? I mean, they may not need 3Ls (and 3L hiring is the most challenging), but I might have been a fit for an SA. I am just not sure how to approach the issue.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? I can't be the only non-traditional student on this board.

Thanks. But how to handle the firms to which I already applied for a first year position? Reference the change of plan in the cover letter? Or email blurb?

Depends on what your communication was with the firm. If they sent you a rejection then they may still consider you for an SA because that sort of hiring is more common anyway. If they didn't get back to you yet then I would just resend asking for an SA. Which market(s) are you applying to?
