On Plan judges have NOT started. Friday is the earliest they can.

OP, I asked this question in another thread and I think the answer depends on your stats. I'm inclined to just answer and schedule as they come in since who knows how many there will be. However, if you are T10, top 10%, LR, and applied broadly, then you can probably get away with waiting on a few phone calls (or just scheduling them for day 2 of interviewing from the get go).

I'm inclined to say that it depends on your stats. If you're a solid candidate, I think you can afford to call back some judges in the middle of your list. If you're a Hail Mary candidate, pick up the phone on the first ring.

Actually a few self-described On Plan judges have started contacting applicants. This has also been known to happen in previous years, so don't be surprised if any calls come in ahead of the official plan date.

Thanks for the replies. I should have given my stats up front.

CCN, top 10%, secondary journal, strong prof connections to a few judges. Not quite outstanding enough to be confident in not jumping at the first thing I get, but also strong enough where I don't want to sell myself too short. Applying to about 40 district court judges in competitive districts and 40 CoA judges all over.

Thoughts?

My first instinct was to say that you're competitive enough to hold out a bit, but it looks like you've only applied for competitive positions. Sounds like, given your application pool, you should jump at the first opportunity without delay.

Whatever you do, do not accept and then renege on your judge because you get a better offer down the line.

You will fuck everyone from your school for years to come.

I'm certainly aware that you can't renege after accepting, but that's the problem that necessitates trying to schedule interviews in the best possible manner.
