State Appeals Clerkships and Big Law

I'm a 3L, top 10%, LR at a T30. I have no debt. I have a offer from a V30 firm in New York City for after graduation. I'm really interested in clerking, both for the experience and because I'd like to have another year off prior to starting at my firm. I've applied to federal strict court and state supreme court clerkships, but I am not feeling too hopeful. A professor reached out to me about an opportunity to clerk at an intermediate appeals court not in New York. The judge is very well regarded and will likely receive a further appointment in the next few years. I know this clerkship would not be bonus eligible, but would my firm still likely extend my offer? What are people's feeling about whether it would be worth doing? I'd also probably try and leverage it into a D. Ct or SSC clerkship for the year after. An alternative would be to work for a few years and then to apply to clerkships again. Thoughts?
