Anyone else interested in Litigation? I’m switching markets to NY because of my fiancé’s work and I’m open to opportunities at smaller firms. I’ve just heard mixed things regarding litigation. I know things have basically grinded to a halt during Covid but I’ve spoken to people who expect a flood of work later this year once we’re hopefully past it all.

When I traded up this year, I skipped screeners and went straight to CBs. Offers took longer to arrive (~2-3 weeks) than in 2L OCI.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 5:24 pmPeople who’ve gotten biglaw offers as 3Ls - do offers come shortly after callbacks? Or is everything slower for 3Ls

Reached out to many many many attorneys from firms at different levels, in-house attorneys, and etc. 3L from T14 is still on this boat of looking for opportunities, any advice would be appreicated!

Popping in here to say that all these rejection emails and ghosting really sucks and is not great at all.

Yeah my ability to focus on schoolwork has been horrible. All I can do is search for jobs online.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 1:44 pmPopping in here to say that all these rejection emails and ghosting really sucks and is not great at all.

3L here, T14, top 30%, just received an offer from a V10 two days after my callback.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 5:24 pmPeople who’ve gotten biglaw offers as 3Ls - do offers come shortly after callbacks? Or is everything slower for 3Ls
To other desperate 3L’s— don’t give up hope. Total time from screener to offer was 10 days. Transactional groups are desperate for warm bodies right now, and I suspect we’ll see more first-year associate positions open up throughout the coming months.
Good luck to all!

Re: The Vale of Tears (3L Job Hunting) (No advice for 0/1/2Ls)
Congrats on the offer! Quick question, since I have seen others comment that offers have been coming shortly after callbacks, how long was the delay between screener to callback? I am top 25% at T20 and had a screener late last week, but radio silence since then. It seemed promising after the interviewer commented on how busy they were.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 1:40 am3L here, T14, top 30%, just received an offer from a V10 two days after my callback.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 5:24 pmPeople who’ve gotten biglaw offers as 3Ls - do offers come shortly after callbacks? Sounds like 8 days since he said 10 days total and two days between CB and offer.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 10:02 amCongrats on the offer! Haha, if you've been staring at your computer screen as much as I have been lately firing out applications and emails, I don't blame you for the oversightAnonymous User wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 11:41 amYikes, not a good sign for my critical reading skills. Re: The Vale of Tears (3L Job Hunting) (No advice for 0/1/2Ls)
Any firms in Chicago recruiting? Or other non east coast markets?
Should I just mass mail to the nalp contact for all of the firms now? Tbh I've kind of given up hope for biglaw and feel kind of rusty, please be kind.

To those who have been getting biglaw interviews, did you get these interviews through postings on the firm's website, your school's job board, cold-emails to attorney/HR, or other?
Thanks in advance!

Super interesting. Has anyone else had this experience? 3L offers more than a week after CB?Anonymous User wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 9:25 amWhen I traded up this year, I skipped screeners and went straight to CBs. Offers took longer to arrive (~2-3 weeks) than in 2L OCI.
I'm used to 2L OCI where it's over after a day or so . . . .

Just to chime in, the 3L screeners I've gotten (all Texas) have all three come from cold-emailing recruiters directly. That is not to say emailing partners would not also work, but thought I'd mention I am having some success on that front.

Hi, would you mind pm'ing which city in Texas or which firms? I have had a callback at one firm and another firm in Chicago, but would love to know if there are other ones in the market that I am considering.Anonymous User wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 4:22 pmJust to chime in, the 3L screeners I've gotten (all Texas) have all three come from cold-emailing recruiters directly. Re: The Vale of Tears (3L Job Hunting) (No advice for 0/1/2Ls)
Just echoing what everyone else here is saying. Transactional/especially Capital Markets is crazy busy right now dealing with the SPAC craze as well as a lot of dry powder in private equity. If you have any financial background or could talk about Securities Regulation classes etc..., I would recommend just mass targeting firms in NYC or other Cap Markets/Transactional markets. For example, 3L positions that I have seen listed recently:
Sidley - General Corporate (NYC)
Wilmer Hale - Corporate (DC)
Kirkland - Chicago (various practice groups have had job postings up for the past couple months)
Also, the SEC's Division of Corp. Finance is hiring for an entry level attorney for a disclosure review program which is pretty atypical and my guess likely from the hot market and SPAC dare I say bubble.
Basically, firms are realizing they need bodies in these groups and if you have other legal financial, transactional experience for your 1L/2L summer or externship or you are smart and have BigLaw #'s to begin with, I would say now is the time to start mass mailing as many firms as you can that have large groups in these practice areas.

Has anyone got offer from the 3L OCI this year, not from mass mailing/networking?

Has anybody heard from Cooley recently? Had an interview for a 3L position with them last week, recruiting said I should hear by Friday but was a little wishy-washy on that. Really want this offer lol

I finally made it out of the vale. Accepted an offer at a midsized firm in a secondary market starting at $120K. I'm happy to be employed and tired of holding out. Good luck to everyone out there! I'm sure you'll all find what you're looking for.

Meanwhile Cooley told me last week that they don't have any openings for a first-year position... though I asked about a specific group, and their response appeared to be more general. Good luck, hope you get the offer!Anonymous User wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 9:14 amHas anybody heard from Cooley recently? Does anyone have any perspective on what the timeline from callback to offers looks like for 3L offers at this stage?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
