Check the Bronx DA thread from last year to get a good idea of the timeline for hiring.Anonymous User wrote:Had a screener with the Bronx during OCI--haven't heard anything yet, but the interviewer said they move slowly. Have a first round Manhattan interview coming up. For Manhattan I applied online and heard back that I got an interview about a week later.
I have a screener with philly in a couple of days. Should I be worried about hypotheticals?Anonymous User wrote:Have had screeners at Bronx, Manhattan, and Philly. Have gotten a final callback for Philly, haven't heard back from Bronx or Manhattan.
Different Anon here. I had a Philly screener with an alumnus of my law school. No hypos, but I think those are reserved for the panel interview. Do you have the name of the person interviewing you?Anonymous User wrote:I have a screener with philly in a couple of days. Since your interviewer is male and mine was female, I think it's safe to say that yours is another person.Anonymous User wrote:Yes but I'd rather not say in case he is interviewing 1 person i don't want to out my self... i'm just paranoid about things like this...
So is it just going to be like a typical interview? Like asking me about my resume and why I want to do prosecution? Just kind of a chat to get an idea of my personality and qualifications?
Or is like throwing curve balls and trying to trip me: "Why are you better than all the other candidates? I see you got a "C" in contracts, explain? etc?"
I'm just nervous because i want this really bad. I want to be a ADA- that's it. Not applying to any other types of law jobs. And this seems to be a good location, good cost of living/salary (for DA) and good office.
yeah they seem like softballs. I mean those are the kind of questions i would expect. I also wonder if I should shut up. I never know if we are talking a long time because we are connecting or because I need to shut up, lol.Anonymous User wrote:Since your interviewer is male and mine was female, I think it's safe to say that yours is another person.Anonymous User wrote:Yes but I'd rather not say in case he is interviewing 1 person i don't want to out my self... i'm just paranoid about things like this...

The questions were along the lines of:
- Why prosecution and why Philly?
- If we could only hire one person, what would you tell us that would make us choose you over everyone else?
- [Looking at my resume] What did you learn at X job?
- We work in a city where no one is rooting for the prosecution, and we work long hours (about six days, 70+ hours each week). How would you handle that? What makes you think you could handle that?
I thought the questions were softballs. The hardest part was knowing when to shut up.
Using my magic powers of telepathy- the t10 is UVA (You guys are the only ones that call it OGI instead of OCI).Anonymous User wrote:they are coming to our OGI at a t10.
Anonymous User wrote:I interviewed with Philly DA for those of you wondering about the callback. The callback hypos were pretty typical, although the atmosphere was "good cop, bad cop" with some of the interviewers acting very friendly and casual, while others were hostile and firing questions at me. My main gripe is that one of the interviewers refused to shake my hand at the end, which was completely awkward. It was a panel interview, but I still I hope that none of you interview with that ADA.
What do you mean refused to shake your hand? You stuck yours out and he was like, "no, I'm not doing that"??Anonymous User wrote:I interviewed with Philly DA for those of you wondering about the callback. Anonymous User wrote:Applied online for Manhattan DA back in August when the applications first became available - haven't heard anything back yet. Should I re-sumbit??
Yes. I shook hands with all my interviewers at the end. But one ADA said, "No, I'm all set." when I extended my hand. I was at a loss for words.red shirt guy wrote:What do you mean refused to shake your hand?
