If you have to ask, you'll never know.

Side question: Has anyone here ever worked at or summered at Bickel & Brewer? I'd be curious to know what it's like there because I'm looking into working for them too.

Someone who transferred out of my school worked for them after graduation. Within a year he had a new job. Aren't they a notorious sweatshop?

My friend got a callback for next Saturday (while hoping it's not 100 degrees for that trip). Said there were around 20 people invited, with a lot from CCN, and some from Penn, Harvard, Hofstra, and George Washington. Also a few kids from SMU, which I found strange.

Said the stated minimum billable requirement is 2400 hours/year. Thinks that (based on conversations with current and former attorneys there) the actual hours billed ranges somewhere between 2700 and 3000, but a with the high-stakes work, sometimes it isn't hard to rack up the hours. At least everyone that works in TX won't have to worry about the summer heat because they'll never see the light of day.

SMU is the local school, the do OCI there.

And yes, you'll never have to worry about anything other than work, because you won't do anything other than work.

For what it's worth, B&B is having some ethical issues at the moment, and if you have choices, it's a place to be somewhat wary of.

No one in their right mind would choose B&B unless they absolutely hated themselves and were workaholics. You'll pay off your student loans whether you're making $160K or $185K. Why kill yourself doing it? Wouldn't be surprised if most of those twenty something people got offers - I can't see people accepting unless they're absolutely set on only doing the kind of work B&B does and had no other options.

Really? It seems like at my school it was a place lots of people wanted to work.

I got a first round interview for 3L OCI, figured I would bump this thread to see if/when anyone hears back from the firm.

Looks like they're only recruiting from NY schools and SMU this year. Thoughts?

Considering the previous years' posts, I suspect there won't be any movement until next week sometime. Unless someone has heard back yet? Anyone?

Someone told me they received a callback for the Dallas office. I haven't heard anything myself.

It'll be a fairly small callback weekend if only slayerhn's friend received one. 3L holding out hope for a cb this week... :|

By the way slayerhn, did your friend tell you which weekend was scheduled for the callbacks?

I suppose that no news is good news, but has anyone heard anything from B&B yet? It's been two weeks since their last OCI visit.

He hasn't had his cb yet, if that says anything. It sounds like they're taking their time.

Based on the previous years posts, they do a callback weekend sometime late September where they invite all their CB candidates, so your friend won't have gone on his callback until then.
