Question re: Making Contact

She calls me today and said she talked with her brother, who turns out to be on recruiting committee for a firm that didn't preselect me at OCI. Attorney brother told her to have me contact him.
My question: How should I contact him? Like a normal mailing, with cover letter and resume? Or, since there's a personal contact, should I go the coffee/informational interview route?
