I had an interview with them recently, and I was wondering how quick the turnaround usually is.

I went on 10 callbacks last year...all top firms in NYC, with Sidley being probably at the bottom of that list. Every other firm got back to me within 1-3 days for an offer. The two rejections came a week later in the mail.

Interviewed with Sidley early on, and after getting some offers, canceling other callbacks, passing up other offers, I whittled it down down to 2 firms. I phoned my decision in to the firm I accepted at and that afternoon -- 3 weeks after my callback -- I got a phone call from Sidley extending an offer. I had forgotten I was even in the running there (I wouldn't have taken it anyway), and told the partner I completely forgot I had yet to hear from Sidley and already accepted an offer. He asked me how quickly I heard back from other firms, I told him, and he was shocked that 3 weeks was a long time. He apologized for taking so long and seemed genuinely upset with their hiring committee's practices. I talked to a classmate who had just summered there and she said they had the same problem in the 2010 cycle and lost some serious candidates due to the radio silence.

Hopefully they get their act together this year.

Interviewed with them in early August, made it to callback four days later, then radio silence for about two weeks. Received offer a couple of days ago, where the partner apologized and said that I was one of the earliest callbacks he had and that it took some time to get all the members of the hiring committee together because its vacation time.

That being said, I really liked Sidley Austin and I am considering them along with other offers.

Has anyone who interviewed with them last week received an offer? Thx.

Interviewed last thursday. Offered on Friday.
Really liked them and enjoyed everyone I met. Will be strongly considering them.

Somebody in the CLS thread reported a Friday offer after a Wednesday CB.

same but i haven't heard anything. do you think it's rolling or should i expect a ding?

also interviewed last week, and haven't heard anything yet. Expecting ding unfortunately... even though i really liked everyone i met.

It is probably the case that the hiring committee met on Friday to discuss people they had seen prior to that day. Definites received offers... Definite nos will have letters coming in the mail.... and definite maybes-- will have to see what they think of people they see this week and into september...

wouldn't really care anyways... seems like a decent place to be in terms of "culture" (though I couldn't tell if the "chill" vibe they were emphasizing was just a front or what), but i'm not particularly impressed with anything that Sidley does

Yes, I'm sure the partners there raking in $1mm a year give a shit about what impresses you.

Any more news from last Wednesday's callbacks? Should I just assume a ding if others have already heard back?

hoping for the best myself... waiting on an offer and got a call from a NYC NUMBER!!!!!!!!! not sidley lol.

anyone have anecdotal advice on asking for more interviews with sidley NY? as in emailing and saying i'll be in town over x dates for callbacks if you'd like to speak with me more

Had a callback Tuesday (28th) - checking in to see if anyone had heard anything?

interview last week, and have yet to hear... i know of others who have gotten offers in my callback group-- so, either they are deciding by school (going for top ones first-- i go to a T-16)... or i should not be surprised to find a ding letter in my mailbox.

Also had callback Tuesday (evening). Got offer this evening.

Not sure - was on a plane. Probably sometime around 10:15 pm EST actually.

I am hoping for an offer tomorrow, if I dont get it by Friday im pretty sure im out of luck. Sidley is my #1, so hopefully ill be in ur company soon.

*sigh* no offer came by Friday.
