Not 100% sure if its the same in all offices, but I know Reed Smith DC evaluates all candidates at the same time. The recruiting staff and interviewers all meet and make determinations when all of the callbacks are completed. They've used the same method in the DC office for several years based on previous TLS posts, I imagine the other offices use a similar process.

How do they notify for rejections? Has anyone from the 9/11 round heard anything?

Serious question: why do they pay below market? Is it to stay competitive on rates?

This may be more info than you are willing to share, but do you live in NYC? I live in NY and haven't gotten a rejection letter yet.

Can anyone who did their CB already confirm that you interview with 2 people at a time?

I'm anonymous so I don't mind sharing. I am from the NYC area. I am guessing that I was in the first wave of rejections. Ding letter dated 9/12. Maybe you are in the waitlist pile. Good luck to you.

I know Reed Smith, Nixon Peabody, Bryan Cave, etc... all pay a little below market, but they are known to be lifestyle firms on the west coast with no face-time policies. In NY, not so much.

I think it's more about being a Pittsburgh based firm. There's absolutely no reason to pay 160 in Pitt and it's probably bad for morale to have associates in the home office making less than their classmates in NYC / DC. ITE they're still more than able to fill their class with people who will leap at 145 and I suppose they don't mind being everyone's second choice.
