Just trying to get a sense of when I should give up hope.

It might be helpful if you can give a hint towards the school you're at, plus the region and type of firms your applying to. I think that has a lot of bearing on this.

Giving up hope is a useless exercise. If you have no offer, focus on mass mailing.

T10, Boston, New York, DC.

In answer to the giving up being useless thing I realize that its useless but I want to get a sense.

I had one come 10 weeks after the screener, but that was unusual. Most of the time 1-2 days for NY/DC and 1-2 weeks for other markets.

Over a week for DC and secondary markets.

Really? It took 10 wks for both of you?!
Mind sharing market and size of firm?
Did you follow up?
My guess is that the people they extended offers to chose other firms

There is nothing worse than silence. Hang in there, though.

I had 18 screeners. So far, 9 callbacks and 3 dings. But for most of the rest, I know others who have received dings whereas I haven't heard anything....

Without a breakdown of days from screener to CB, there was no point at all to your anony-brag.

Not an anon-brag. Just an anecdote to show OP that results can be all over the map.
It varies market by market, firm by firm, and candidate by candidate. It is a hard and sucky process, but patience is necessary.

Not going to give market, but a 501+ lawyer firm's main office in a secondary city. I followed up and didn't get the job because I had no ties to the secondary city. I suspect they were just scrambling after underyielding from their first choices.

The question is, how long between screener and CB?

Your answer was, I got a shit-ton of CBs out of my screeners, but haven't heard back from everyone at an undisclosed amount of time since my screeners.

Fuckwaddery of the highest order, my good sir.

I fucking hate people like you-- I forgot that everyone is going through OCI at different times. No need to be a dick.

Anyway,
2 CBs I got the day of the interview.
2 the day after.
The next 5 mostly came about a week after the screeners. That's when my 3 dings also came (about a week after the screeners, almost like clockwork) and then my friends got dings from the other firms that I am still waiting on. Because we all live near each other and I haven't gotten my ding (and many others have still not heard from a few of these firm), I think we must be in a hold pile (which isn't great, but at least maybe there is still a small shot.) I will be happy to update if any of those holds turn into CBs, since that would make it a CB received about 2 weeks after the screeners.

I should add that bc I was scared, I only bid on one reach firm, which I weirdly received a quick callback from. It just makes me perplexed about the whole process-- and hopeful (for everyone) that more CBs are coming this week.

Chicago, ~200. I don't think I followed up. Pretty sure I was on some sort of waitlist.
