"NO OFFER" POLL - PLEASE VOTE

There are a ton of posts floating around with various people telling their "no offer" stories. It seems like there may be more no offers this year than in years past. I want to get an official count of TLSers who got no offered. Please vote accordingly.
Also, if I forgot a category please comment and I will add to the poll.

I predict this poll will be done is a rigorous manner and yield statistically relevant results.

Can you think of a better way to do it? Or is it better I just don't ask the question?

You're not gonna get useful data from a TLS poll. Eventually the data will come out through NALP/other sources (see
here for some reporting on last summer that came out in time for people doing OCI then to factor in). Won't catch cold offers, of course.

FYI, allowing people to vote that they were not an SA destroys even the meager chance of having statisically relevant results. If they weren't in competition for an SA offer, their numbers don't reflect any ability to get an offer or not.

No, it only skews the percentages. The only number I was looking for was the total number of people no offered or cold offered on TLS.
I put the "not an SA" option in so people who wanted to see the results but were not an SA this summer would vote for that instead of picking another option. (I am aware that there is a way to view the results without voting but most people just vote anyway.)

The only statistically meaningful data to be had on offer rates:
http://www.nalp.org/march12_perspectives_pr
NALP wrote:Despite the additional recruiting volume, law firms continue to bring in small summer classes, barely increasing class size from recession-era lows. By contrast, offer rates have returned to the highs seen before the recession as firms follow through with their stated intent to make offers to the majority of their summer associates when they can. For the third year in a row, few firms ventured back into the 3L market, and thus, students with offers from their summer program found few competing offers on the table. Between that and smaller class sizes, it is no surprise that the overall acceptance rate of offers from summer programs remained at historic highs in 2011.
For members of the Class of 2012, those who were summer associates in 2011, the offer rate for entry-level associate positions climbed up four percentage points, to 91.4%, following an approximately 18 percentage point jump the year before, those jumps coming on the heels of a 2009 rate that plunged to only 69.3%. At 91.4%, the 2011 offer rate is the second highest in more than 17 years, topped only by the 92.8% rate measured in 2007.

Well I found this interesting to the extent that it suggests cold offers are still happening.

Honest question: do cold offers even happen? I've yet to see a single credible story or post about a cold offer. Even though ATL was publicly soliciting cold offer stories, they still only wrote about 1 that was potentially a cold offer (that happened two years ago) in the past few years. And yes, I know the nature of a "cold offer" means there's a strong incentive not to disclose specifics, but I've seen nothing to suggest that cold offers really happen and I'm skeptical that a lot of wink-and-nod agreements to be jointly deceitful in this way could happen without some stories coming to light.

Cold offers do happen. One V10 firm has a cold offer story making the rounds--a summer associate did a rotation in a foreign office, and stopped showing up to work and instead went sight-seeing.

They definitely happen. My big NY firm does them on occasion for terrible performers who aren't disliked. To not get an offer you have to get people to hate you.

What if you split and got one offer and one no-offer? It's a situation I just became very familiar with...

Do you think that splitting was a factor in your no-offer?
