for firms that are known for hedge fund work and corporate work, would it be to your advantage to actually say you are interested in litigation? (they may need more ppl interested in lit). for ex: schulte and seward. or does it just come off like you haven't done your homework and have no business wanting to be at that firm. thanks

Step 1: Determine which you think you would prefer

Step 2: Say that when asked

The most corporate dominated firms are still generally something like ~30% litigators. If anything ,there might be a slight edge overall to people who express an interest in corporate because many people go to law school without knowing what transactional work or every bothering to research it.

Seriously though, it's on the margins ESPECIALLY compared to your own personal preferences. Follow your hearts, young ones.
