I recently got a question that I did not quite expect at an interview: are you good with numbers?

I have a liberal arts background. do people presume that liberal arts people suck at math and do people with such backgrounds have difficulty getting into corp law?

Not at all. History major, with no finance/business background at all and summered in one of the top corporate departments, and will start out there after accepting my offer. Took some classes in law school and know just as much, if not more, than friends from UG who studied finance/business.

A majority of the knowledge needed to be a successful corporate attorney will be learned on the job. Having an understanding of some general concepts though, like accounting, will certainly help.

It's a legit question because there are certain lawyers/law students who are completely illiterate when it comes to numbers and math. If you are one of these people you probably shouldn't be interviewing for corporate in the first place because you will inevitably encounter some numbers and won't be able to say "i'm a lawyer, I don't do numbers."
