Do firms make invitations for callbacks during the business day, or after, between 5-8 when they know they are more likely to get someone on the phone? I know it varies, but I just wanted to get a feel for it.

I had both, with a majority calling during the work day. It's a staff person making those calls usually, and they know that if they miss you you're going to call back. So fuck if they're gonna work late for the privilege of getting you on the phone.

Okay, this is a 24 hour-to call back invite firm. Thought they may have to meet and then decide who to call. Guess since its after 5, its a no-go. : (
