The vast majority do not. It won't be an issue.4444 wrote:I'm working at a non-profit in Boston, and although there are two lawyers on staff in this office, I'm essentially working for another lawyer who's working in the program's DC office. So although the two Boston lawyers know me, I've never done any work for them. And although all the work I do is for the DC lawyer, we've never met, and communicate almost exclusively through e-mail.
I'm worried, because I don't think I can get a good reference out of this job because this bizarre make up. The DC lawyer won't be able to say anything about me/personality/etc., and the Boston lawyers can't say anything about my work-product.
Long story short - do big law firms check references? And if they do, how big of a red-flag is it that I don't have my summer legal experience listed as a reference?
