How many posts are you going to make with the same bidlist?

Get rid of Mayer Brown and Linklaters, move Bryan Cave, Proskauer, KL Gates up. Add like Cadwalader and other less selective firms? Start mass mailing now too. OCI is going to be rough for you.

why didnt you follow the advice someone gave you in your previous thread? have you looked at the class sizes for these firms?

edit: i don't mean to sound harsh. but nixon peabody ny? 3 SAs this year. gunderson NY? 2 SAs. pillsbury 7 SAs.

these class size critiques are right on. I would also add:

you need to go through the grade data available and eliminate every firm that has a "lowest hire" above a 3.05. These are the firms that have not hired someone with your grades since 2005; they almost surely will not do so ITE.

n.b.: You should disregard this advice if you are a URM or have an IP edge (ie, already taken patent bar/have hard science UG that would inspire an employer to look beyond your grades).

If I were you, I'd swap out Jones/Weil/Kirkland for Stroock/Kaye Scholer/Dechert and move those up the list.

Do Brown Rudnick, Katten, Kasowitz, and/or Fried Frank come to your OCI? If so add them toward the top of your list.

Also, 2dary market ties?

I would probably move Pillsbury up to your lower
top ten. They may be planning for a small summer class, but I think they like hiring from Mich, which counts for something. I also imagine a lot of others in your GPA range will rank them high on their lists.

I'd be hesitant about this advice. Pillsbury is planning for a sub-10 person class and you need #s on your side. I'd make sure that your top 10-15 bids at least have upwards of 20 SA slots. Fighting for fewer than 10 spots with people who will have significantly higher GPAs from M alone is probably not in your best interests.

Regarding the last couple posts, what about a hybrid approach like below. Or would that be screwing myself more than I already am?

Actually I think only Katten Chicago comes to Michigan. I didn't even know they had a NYC office.

op here. yeah, i used the grade cutoffs religiously. yup, only katten - chicago is coming this year.

Milbank that unselective at M? Here at a lower t14, they don't usually take medians, let alone below.

I don't think its that he has a chance with all of these firms, but that there's just not much else he can put there in its place. You have to bid somewhere, might as well go for the less selective firms with bigger classes. I'd say Milbank fits in that category.

Fine, but not as his number 1 bid... What about Paul Hastings, Stroock, Willkie, Fried Frank? It seems with each edit he mostly cuts out firms he actually has a chance of getting while replacing them with firms like Weil which are never going to happen. Or he moves up firms that are possible, but a huge reach and should be nowhere near his top 10.

Yeah I agree. But about Willkie, I thought they were about as selective as K&E/Paul Weiss, etc.?

Willkie is kind of selective at my t14. What about proskauer rose, cadwalader, schulte roth, paul hastings etc.
