too depressed to start applying anywhere else.

Has anyone had any results from dropping by hospitality suits? I dropped off materials at a few and had some good conversations, but nothing yet.

Re: 3L Mass Mailing Thread
Had a biglaw sa this summer, but haven't heard on an offer and they indicated 50/50 chance of no-offer. Have been mass mailing like crazy, 450 firms in four markets. One screener that led to a cb. CSO said the 1/450 is a normal response given that I'm median at a DCNG. Is it really? Should I start mass mailing practice group leaders in my targeted industry since HR is giving me nothing?

I'm in the same boat... waiting on hearing back about the 50/50 chance of no-offer. It's a brutal wait. I sent out mass mailings and attempted to do 3L interview weeks but so far it's a no go. I almost feel like it would be better to try again in October when things start to pick up.Anonymous User wrote:Had a biglaw sa this summer, but haven't heard on an offer and they indicated 50/50 chance of no-offer. Everyone says "when things pick up" but then they don't pick up and you're just further down the road of a stale degree. My strategy is just to attack it hogwild. Clerkships, 3LOCI, mailings, consulting, govt, etc in succession, like it's my job.

+1. Any entry level I see I'm applying. I don't care what is it. Although looking at these Arizona Honors Handbook 3L stats is depressing. Even the least competitive jobs are like 4 hired out of 450.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:I'm in the same boat... waiting on hearing back about the 50/50 chance of no-offer. Checking in for the unemployment party.
GW 3L, no SA, scrambling for anything. Pretty sure the mass mail explosion will begin Monday. I'm late I think, but I spent the last two months on state and magistrate clerkships apps. Zero interviews at 3LOL OCI. On to the next beast ....
Good luck folks.

Re: 3L Mass Mailing Thread
For previous 3L applicants, how long was response time typically from mass mail to interview request? I have around 150 outstanding applications and some firms have said to check back in October or November or that they'll keep my resume on file. Is it realistic that a firm could get my resume in August and I won't hear from them for a month or two or more? How typical is that? I usually take silence as a rejection but am wondering what to expect, if anything. I plan to follow up with most firms a few times over fall semester express continued interest but am wondering if anyone has accepted an offer or assumed they had struck out only to get a surprising interview request after a long period of silence. Not that I plan to turn down a halfway decent offer!!!!

Re: 3L Mass Mailing Thread
I believe NALP requires firms to hold open full time offers to their summers until November 1. So they might not know if all of their summers accept the full time offer until then. Unsure how frequently spots open up that late though.Anonymous User wrote:For previous 3L applicants, how long was response time typically from mass mail to interview request? Re: 3L Mass Mailing Thread
The lack of 3L info is killing me. Either there are no (current or former) 3L job-seekers on this forum (???), or for some reason they're just not willing to share.Anonymous User wrote:For previous 3L applicants, how long was response time typically from mass mail to interview request? About your points, I can't shake this nagging feeling that it's just too early to be applying / mass-mailing, and that the conventional wisdom of "the earlier the better" doesn't necessarily apply to the 3L job search. I suspect that needs for first year associates will be clearer next year. I have a hard time believing that at that time, recruiters will go back to wading through piles of resumes received half a year earlier instead of just looking at contemporaneous submissions. Everyone I can think of at my T2 who got a job as a 3L did so in the spring of their last year, or after graduation. Other than that, there is little evidence on either side of this proposition because... no one here is willing to talk. Fuck. Frustrated.

I've emailed a ton of firms and most aren't considering 3L's yet.
