What are the most Social/ Fast Paced Practice Groups??
I do way better in situations where there is a constant flow of high pressure shorter tasks that need to be done ASAP than some longer research projects. Would prefer to also be in a group that interacts with other people the most-- though I realize that the legal profession is inherently relatively solitary. What firms/groups to look? Top 1/3 at CCN? t.y.i.a.

Yeah, I'm really confused as to why you want to be a lawyer.

Just kidding. Become a deputy DA. They don't do anything that takes more than a day. Heck, some don't do anything that takes more than 35 minutes.

Yea you picked the wrong profession. Some cases I've been working on at my summer firm were first filed in 2007.

I'm guessing that you may be seeking a transactional group (e.g., Capital Markets, M&A, PE, etc.)
These are high pressure, not necessarily shorter tasks.
And, they are definitely not solitary. You will be interacting with your team everyday, on the weekends, even when you would rather be asleep - they will call you to turn a document.
Maybe a better thing to do is ask yourself what you are interested in.

Dude! You were born to be a transactional lawyer. The deadlines are amazing and just what you want. And it isn't solitary either - the corporate guy gets to work with all the other specialities, though she is the one who has to stay late and make sure the documents are perfect.Anonymous User wrote:I do way better in situations where there is a constant flow of high pressure shorter tasks that need to be done ASAP than some longer research projects. You're a dumbass. OP is almost exactly describing the workstream of an M&A attorney.Julio_El_Chavo wrote:Yeah, I'm really confused as to why you want to be a lawyer.

M&A attorneys interact with people all the time. I easily spend 10am to 5pm on calls/meetings with specialists, the attorneys representing the other side, and the client. Being a people person is almost essential for the job. Without that trait, you can't interact with your client or bring in business, to speak nothing of negotiating points with the other side.Julio_El_Chavo wrote:He says he wants to interact with people, not whatever you are.Fresh Prince wrote:You're a dumbass. Though somewhat less senior than FP, I would completely agree with this. Also, for junior M&A lawyers, the amount of time spent on work product is typically much shorter than the time lit people put into written work.Fresh Prince wrote:You're a dumbass. The bankruptcy/corporate restructuring attorneys whom I've spoken with have described their practices as very fast-paced and well-suited for those who prefer working around short-term deadlines. Much of their day is interacting with opposing counsel and other attorneys over the phone. The hours are also highly unpredictable, and, as one would expect, the work is generally counter-cyclical with the rest of the economy. I think chambers may be able to expound on some of these aspects better.

I just did. And believe it or not, some people actually get useful information looking through these 'ancient' threads.

Yea, by using the search function, not by your illuminating commentary.jagpaw wrote:rad lulz wrote:Don't necro ancient threads.jagpaw wrote:The bankruptcy/corporate restructuring attorneys whom I've spoken with have described their practices as very fast-paced and well-suited for those who prefer working around short-term deadlines. As opposed to the insight that you've offered on the subject? OP was describing aspects that literally every restructuring attorney I've spoken with has emphasized about their jobs, so I posted it. I don't spend all day on here, and hadn't seen a similarly 'illuminated' point on this topic via search. Whether or not he/she gets the answer is irrelevant if someone else comes along with the same question. lmao at internet tough guys

Honest answer: Tax.
Basically you'll be working on 50 things at once at all times.
