Birmingham Biglaw Market

For those in the know, just how hard is it to get a big law job in Birmingham from a T14? Are median-ish grades (or maybe below) good enough if you have ties? I'm particularly interested in experience or knowledge concerning students from non-HYS (and non-UVA/Duke) students. I know some of the prestigious firms like Bradley Arant like to hire from top schools, so to what degree does that apply to the non-southern T14s?
Thanks in advance.

I went to some recruiting events for biglaw in Birmingham. Alabama was well represented there, obviously, but I talked to a couple of Harvard people as well. There were also a surprising number of TTT's represented there. I'd say you have as good a shot in Birmingham, but you have to be proactive.

I know several people from Alabama with SAs in Birmingham this summer (and from past summers). Ties of some sort are pretty key if you're not at a southern school. On the bright side, if you get your foot in the door, Birmingham firms are very loyal to their 2Ls and do their best to make offers.
