For a biglaw litigator - How silly is it not to take Corps?

It seriously conflicts with a few things I'd be much happier and more interested taking. How necessary is it?

Corps is necessary if you will ever be involved in business litigation. If you just do something like products liability, then you'll be ok.
Just take it.

There's just no way you can't fit corporations into your schedule at any point in four semesters. Having even a minor background in fiduciary duties, corporate governance, etc. will be unbelievably helpful -- or perhaps more aptly, not having the background will be a liability.

Agree strongly with above. It helps a ton to not have to learn what a merger is, what a derivative suit is, what securities fraud such as 10b-5 is, what an SEC filing is, or even what basic rights and responsibilities a corporation has when you're litigating a case arising out of a relevant transaction.
Even as a summer, it was striking how much easier the assignments were for topics I had some familiarity with rather than have to learn entirely new doctrine from scratch.

Corps on the bar is pretty straight-forward and superficial (well, at least in my state, which isn't New York). On the other hand, that means while you can "just learn it for the bar" for the bar itself, you really don't learn anything. Aside from pure patent lit, just about every area of lit seems like it encounters issues implicated in Corps, eventually, so it's probably worth taking. I didn't though, but that's because I hate the way Law is taught and thus avoided almost all the "required" lecture classes.

i mean, the handout is fairly long.
but the areas that are most tested: derivate suits, fiduciary duty, fundamental corp changes....

you should take corps at some point if you can, but if you can't fit it in you'll be fine
i've found that a course on class actions is far more useful

Shareholder litigation
Director and officer personal liability
Breach of fiduciary duties
Breach of disclosure requirements
Accusations of insider trading or fraudulent transfers
Bankruptcy-related litigation
Corporate liability for mass torts or in class actions
Here are the clients you'll be litigating for as a biglaw litigator:
