"Ties" to the Recruiter

So it turns out one of my parents is good friends with the recruiter at a firm I am interviewing with (my top choice). Is it amateur to have my parent contact the recruiter beforehand to let them know I am their child? My parent wants to and is convinced it will really help, but it makes me feel a bit childish. Thoughts?

If you do it, have them do it in such a way as to not implicate you at all. As in, the parent is calling on their own, you don't know about it.
