I work at one of the big SF patent litigation firms and don't often hear their name in the mix. The ones I do hear are Quinn, MoFo, Keker, Kirkland. They certainly aren't on the top of the heap like these guys, but maybe they're relevant - not sure.

They have a few solid patent lit partners- Neel Chatterjee stands out and is extremely well-respected. Orrick's practice is quite large, though, so they also get a lot of run-of-the-mill troll work (especially with their alternate pricing that they often do now). It depends on who you work for. Their trade secrets practice is top-notch and better than nearly all other SV firms.

yeah, they've been getting a lot of press recently for major wins in the patent litigation cases that everybody hears about.
