Can anyone provide insight regarding what states, districts, counties, etc. have plaintiff friendly juries, judges, etc.?

A lot of people in my family / social group say Texas, but I really don't know if it is true. It is a state that gets mentioned though. Curious as well.

This baffles me to no end. Texas has some of the most big-business-friendly laws top to bottom. Caps on damages, limits on jurisdiction up the wazzoo, and a ton of angry country folk who don't like lawsuits. The inner parts of Austin, Dallas and Houston seem like the only places that could be construed as plaintiff-friendly, but it doesn't help that the procedural law isn't on their side.

West Virginia comes to mind.

Alabama is clearly the top in the nation with respect to your question.

Shows Northern District of Texas as the most plaintiff friendly in terms of win/loss record.

If I'm reading the article correctly, the National Law Review article referenced above refers only to patent infringement cases.

The thing is, I hear Texas named as plaintiff-friendly all the time. I just don't get it.

A place that doesn't have the Celotex standard for MSJ in state court.

S.D.N.Y. sometimes, but really depends on the judge.

Fifth Circuit is tough. Sixth Circuit tends toward unfavorable.

N.D. California protects Silicon Valley at the expense of the rest of the state, and the entire country.

Which SDNY judges?

I don't have a list or anything, but people at the firm say its a crapshoot, with some judges granting every motion they ask for from the bench and others allowing defense to redact discovery information for nothing more than scope.

Not all of Texas is plaintiff friendly seeing as how this is a largely conservative state, but Beaumont, Texas is widely known as being one of the best places to file suit as a plaintiff. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 35247.html
