Anyone know about this firm?

Considered the shittiest firm to work for in Vegas. Bar none. I'm pretty sure it's all insurance defense. If that's the place you have your best offer from, then do it. But don't turn down a gig elsewhere. Why do you want Las Vegas? I assume you're from NY.

wow. it looks like they have some goodlooking associates though.

Avoid if you can. I interviewed there last year, and in my research I learned what other people are posting. They work associates to the bone, and basically hire tons of new law grads to keep their ranks full- because they are the only ones who will work 2400 hours for 80k. If it was the only offer I had, obviously I would have taken it, but thankfully it wasn't.

I don't want to get too specific, but in my interview with one of the partners, he was extremely unprofessional. If you want to go to Vegas, there are much better firms.

I don't want to get too specific, but in my interview with one of the partners, he was extremely unprofessional. If you want to go to Vegas, there are much better firms.

are you in vegas? who is good there?

My offer was in another state, so I can't speak too much about other firms. But, I've heard good things about Gordon Silver, and several of the regional firms there (Snell & Wilmer, Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Hart).

I didn't realize they had more than one office. Since you turned down the job, and therefore there's no downside to telling, you should tell us about some of the unprofessional things that happened during your interview.

Just to clarify- the offer I took was with another firm in another state. Alverson Taylor only has the Nevada office, as far as I can tell.

Again, I'm not going to be too specific about the interview. Some of the conversation focused on their associate attrition rate, and it was low (i.e. people are constantly leaving because they hate it there). The interviewer had a lot of say about that in a very animated fashion. He was the one who brought it up, and it was obviously an opportunity for him to vent about some things.

When I was doing research before the interview, I had read the stuff that other people are posting from that blog, so I didn't exactly have high expectations and was basically praying that it wouldn't be my only option.

They obviously hire a lot of new grads, and I know most people can't afford to be picky- a job is still a job, and at this point you're lucky to have one. But, if you do get an offer from them and have another choice, I would take the other choice. I think anyone looking over this thread and the supporting links could see that.
