I am just wondering if anyone could comment on the Chicago market, and if it would be much harder to get into than NY.

Sorry, cutoff is at 3% below median for Chicago biglaw.

More seriously, you have a (outside) shot at firms not named Sidley/Kirkland in Chicago. Nothing is guaranteed though.

NYC is much easier than Chicago. At median, NYC is probably 50% certain. Chicago is more like 10% - i.e. you'll get something if you have legit connections already.

How are you calculating your % below median considering we don't rank? The curve tends to be much more compressed right below median. (There are way more people just below median than just above.) E.g. .1 above median and .1 below are not an equivalent spread away from median. You may be further away from median than you think.

Posting your actual GPA is probably better as people may know about rough cutoffs for firms.

Anecdotally, Chicago always seems harder than NY regardless of GPA. The class size is just much smaller.

Not the OP, but 3.21 (probably median?) at M hoping to go to Chicago (with legit connections). Anyone know with firms wouldn't think about considering me?
