Has anyone received their start dates yet? I haven't heard anything yet and it's almost July. If folks have already received word, please post firm name, city, and month starting.

I actually start in late August...regional Big Law. The firm said that it was busy so that's a good thing I hope!

Anyone have knowledge of start dates for Chicago firms/offices?

Moved to legal employment where people will see it. Also, not at a firm, but starting late August.

NYC Biglaw, have an option to start either 10/1 or 10/15 (and I've heard that other firms in NYC at least are doing the same thing).

Same here. What firm are you at?

V100, largest non-HQ office (secondary market, but all offices start same day), Tuesday after Labor Day

Headed to firm in Chicago. V20. Just want to plan around start date and surprised my summer class has not heard back yet re: starting dates. Hopefully something soon...

K&E NY starting on October 8th

NY/NJ/PA Biglaw just got official letter for 10/1 start, along with requirement to pay back the stipend if I don't stay with the firm for a year.

GDC gave us a choice of Sept, Oct, or Nov

Seems like most people are going for Sept/Oct timeframe...is it worth taking time off to travel/relax/vacation if there are multiple start dates? The way I see it, might as well get started.....

often overlooked is that you will be taxed at a much lower rate your stub year then at any other time in biglaw. that alone is reason to start early....enjoy making 12k a month (for 3 months) and being taxed as if you were making 3k a month (for 12 months).

Might as well start early and make some money. Besides, December is slow for law firms...

Second week of August start date. Also offered September and October options. Things must be busy.

Still no start date at Ropes & Gray!!

September 4th here too. We didn't get a choice, everyone is starting that day. Good sign that they have the work to justify all of us starting so early I think.
