This goes without saying but if anyone has offers that they know they definitely won't accept please turn them down asap so other people have a fighting chance.

That's not at all unusual at this stage if you're targeting secondary markets, and even a lot of NYC/DC firms have been slow-moving this year.Anonymous User wrote:Right here with ya.Anonymous User wrote:Anybody else sitting on 0 offers? Sigh.

Had three callbacks in NYC. Haven't heard either way from all three.HeavenWood wrote:That's not at all unusual at this stage if you're targeting secondary markets, and even a lot of NYC/DC firms have been slow-moving this year.Anonymous User wrote:Right here with ya.Anonymous User wrote:Anybody else sitting on 0 offers? 0 offers from secondary markets from 10+ CBS done. 1 NYC cb 1 offer.
Secondary market firms told me they callback 70 people for ~10 spots. Also penn OCI is super late. There are only 2-3 spots left at some firms I visited.

Re: 2012 Penn OCI Thread
Philly or NYC?
I have a NYC offer but (without going into detail) I believe I will have a Philly offer this week for $20K less. Focusing 90% on $$$ (COL, taxes, etc.), which would you choose? The other 10% is that Philly could turn into a long-term proposition whereas NYC jobs are rumored to short circuit within a few years.
FWIW: My grades are OK, nothing to write home about.

Re: 2012 Penn OCI Thread
It's really a no-brainer that $145k in Philadelphia >>>>> $160k in NYC as far as COL goes. The advantages NYC has to offer (besides the "NYC experience") are increased geographic/job flexibility if/when you're ready to lateral out. If your goal is to stay in Philadelphia for the long term and you're not gung-ho about the NYC lifestyle, I'd take Duane/Morgan/Dechert over any NYC V50. But if you're not wedded to Philly, the NYC cost premium may be worth the additional job options you'd have down the line.Anonymous User wrote:Philly or NYC?

Also, what makes you so sure the Philly firm would turn into a long-term proposition? You're certainly more likely to make partner at a large Philly biglaw, but the odds are still far from in your favor.

Do you care to give the name of the Philly firm? Pepper Hamilton? Drinker Biddle? Blank Rome?Anonymous User wrote:Philly or NYC?

Long term prospects in Philly could depend on the firm, possibly. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
You make a good point. Do both firms have 100% offer rates?

If it pays $145k and it's a Philly-based firm, it's either Duane, Morgan, or Dechert.Anonymous User wrote:Do you care to give the name of the Philly firm? Pepper Hamilton? Drinker Biddle? Blank Rome?Anonymous User wrote:Philly or NYC?
