I have a 3.75 from DCN and I'm shooting for DC. I have a few years of DC WE prior to 1L.

Which firms are completely out of reach? Williams & Connolly? Covington? WilmerHale?

I'm interested in primarily international trade, which is a niche practice area--how should that affect my bid list?

OP, and everyone else, needs to stop posting a GPA + a range of schools. It's really not helpful - e.g., a 3.75 at UVA = top 5%, a 3.75 at NW = 10% (?)... If you want advice, tell us your rank. And yeah, I know that all these schools "don't rank"; however, with a touch of research, I'm pretty darn sure you can find out approximately what your rank is.

If you want to do international trade, then apply to firms with strong international trade groups. E.g., Covington or Steptoe would be a far better fit for you than Williams & Connolly.

Please do research before asking these questions - about 30 seconds of research would tell you that Williams & Connolly would be a really crappy choice for anyone who doesn't want to do litigation. Start with Chambers: http://www.chambersandpartners.com/USA/Editorial/71009.

Dude why would you not bid those two firms anyway?

(1) It's not like you need to bid them high to get an interview.
(2) It's not like you need a ton of "safety" bids
