Interested in M&A and Capital Markets / Securities. What are the best firms in these areas that I have a realistic shot at? Thanks.

WE? NY of course. Reachy targets are places like Kirkland, Skadden, Gibson. Reaches are STB, Cleary. Shearman is a target-target. Safeties are places like A&O.

No substantive WE.

Any other thoughts? And what does reachy target mean? And is Skadden a firm I should heavily pursue?

Reachy-target means if you get it would be outforming your numbers, but not by a huge amount.

If "top third-ish" means "inside the top third" then I would pursue Skadden pretty hard. But you're on the edge of their hiring standard from a non-CCN so focus heavily on Shearman as well, as well as A&O, etc.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know Gibson Dunn, one of the firms I initially wanted to work for, is still in play.

Out of curiosity, once you leave the V10, how much different are the exit options in the V25ish range?

Assuming Gibson NY, yeah I think it's still in play if you're a strong interviewer. I have no idea what exit options are like anywhere.

Fair enough. And yes, Gibson Dunn NY.
