trainee or solicitor/associate ?

I saw some other threads about working in asian/london offices of US law firms.
I have a question: say, you are admitted to new york / california but not UK and it will take 2 years or so to get qualified in UK as well. if you work at the london/hk/singapore office of a US firm, will you get the full attorney salary or the 'trainee solicitor' salary when you start out?
