Post-clerkship options?

Summered at NYC V5. I'll be clerking from 2013-14 at one of the more competitive district courts (SDNY/CD Cal/EDNY/DDC). If I don't want to go back to my firm or a similar place, will the clerkship open up other options? Obviously AUSA is out w/ so little experience, but what about boutiques? Plaintiffs' firms? Will a year in BIGLAW + the competitive clerkship open up doors otherwise closed to other folks at firms?

Curious about this. Same stats, except non-2/9/DC COA.

If you're considering government, you also get a second shot at honors programs for federal agencies.
