MPRE and clerking for federal judge

I was always planning on taking the MPRE right after I took the bar because I had something important going on literally every other test weekend in the past year. I ended up getting a clerkship with a dist. judge (hired off-plan) that starts shortly before the August MPRE. I don't need to have passed the MPRE before beginning the clerkship, right? And for some reason the August MPRE is on a Friday instead of a Saturday... will I look like an idiot trying to get that Friday off of work or should I just wait for the next date and take it on a Saturday? Thanks in advance for the advice.

You do not need the MPRE for the clerkship. At all. Surprised you can sit for the bar without it, though.

Some states don't require the MPRE if the student takes ethics class in school.
Heck at least one state still allows you to skip the entire bar if you graduate in state,

In CA you can take the bar without having taken the MPRE... you might get delayed a bit in getting admitted to the bar if you take the MPRE after the bar though

I believe this is the case in NY as well.
