How to Tie a Tie

Ya, I'm 24 and my dad still ties my ties for me. So what.
But seriously, work starts next Monday and this is the only thing on my to-do list for this week. I googled around but it seems like most of the websites assume you know the basics of tying a tie. I literally know nothing.
So, anybody have good links for a beginner? And I should be tying a half-windsor, right?

A half-windsor is fine and versatile...a four in hand is also fine and easier to tie.

Windsor for a tie with thinner/medium material, 1/2 Windsor for thick material.

I'd recommend either the Half-windsor, the Prince Albert, or the Prince Edward. Surprisingly, google images is a great resource --there's a couple jpgs that have step-by-step instructions

Prince Albert gave it away, Edward isn't as well known.

I'm actually dumb. Prince Albert is indeed a type of knot as well. I knew it was a knot so I assumed Prince Edward must be the piercing.

Don't have the link, but the Brooks Brothers website has a great run-down on how to tie a bunch of different knots (four in hand, half windsor, full windsor, etc.).

half-nicky. Not as bulky as the windsor or even the half, but still a centered knot. If you have a suit that fits, and you aren't 200lbs+, you should stick with the half-nicky. If you are over 200, or simply have a large frame, a windsor would look nice.

If you don't know what you're doing, do the four-in-hand. It's by far the easiest to tie.

Just leave them tied up.. I'm 28 and work and have to wear a tie to work everyday and still can't tie a tie. A co-clerk just recently learned how to tie his tie when the judge taught him how to lol. Worst case scenario (e.g. you buy a new tie and have to tie it), YouTube how to tie a full windsor. Btw- full windsor is the way to go for ties. It's a fat enough of a knot that you can get away with not buttoning that god-awful top button on your shirt.

I was in the same position in college, and just typed "how to tie a tie into google". Saw a step by step on how to tie a half-windsor, stood in front of the mirror and did it about 100 times, and have been using it ever since. You would be amazed how fast you can learn if you just repeat it over and over. I think the half windsor is great, looks professional, and is easy to learn.

If you're on the skinny side, I'd say go with the half-windsor... Full just looks way too big for some people.
If you're more built, then either one can work. Both are pretty easy to learn, just pick one and watch some videos to get it down.
