Hello all,

Would it be okay to use a biglaw offer as a kind of bargaining chip for other jobs? Like say someone wanted to work in a personal injury or high profile public interest shop, would it make sense to mention a biglaw offer during the interview process to secure these jobs? Thanks in advanced.

Thats the wrong use of it as a "chip" unless they question your dedication to the field in which case its nice to be able to say. However, it is a nice thing to mention during the salary negotiations.

I doubt it will be useful as a "bargaining chip" even in salary negotiations especially for PI where salary is dependent on funding. However, if you previously summered at a firm then having an offer is very important in the interview process. At my last summer employment, not receiving an offer from your previous firm was an indicator that you are looking at them only as a backup and not because you want PI.
