Haven't heard about the start date yet

Is it normal that the firm is silent about the start date for class of 2012?
My firm is a V50. Although I got all my bar-related expenses reimbursed already and have the bar stipend coming in June, I haven't heard anything about the start date.
Does this bode well? Should I be worried and start looking for some fellowship?

I haven't heard either. Like you, my bar course has been paid for. Not sure whether to be worried. I know of other firms that haven't given start dates, including Latham (DC), which doesn't sound like a firm likely to be in bad financial shape. I'm not sure if my firm is in bad shape, lazy, unsure precisely what month they want the new associates, or waiting to see how many other firms defer until January 2013 so they can too without making Above the Law. I guess there's no use trying to read into it.

My firm announced start dates in May last year, and everyone started in September or October. If they already paid out bar expenses, I wouldn't worry too much. Very few firms are still delaying until the start of the following year.
