0L summer employment

I've read other threads on TLS advocating that 0L summer students should relax and take it easy since law school is so stressful, but I'm an older student about to start law school in the fall and I'm looking for summer legal work. I recognize that this may be hard to get, since there are current 1L and 2Ls without work for the upcoming summer.
This is what I've got so far:
1. Sent emails to local firms looking to hire a paralegal/legal secretary, explaining that I am ready to work and that I would be interested in any opportunities available.
2. I'm very close to depositing at my law school for the fall, and career services says that once I formally commit they will give me access to their alumni network, and I can use that to contact local lawyers.
3. I contacted a local lawyer who I know. He says his firm is not hiring, but he will let me know if he hears of anything. This isn't promising, but it could turn into something, maybe.
4. I've been looking at monster.com and careerbuilder.com daily for legal positions of any kind.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks in advance.
