A family member who has and the profs I know who have basically say something like "Imagine the worst day of your life and the best day of your life happening simultaneously for a year straight."

My Con Law professor clerked for Blackmun and all she talked about in class was that experience. I did not learn anything about con law from her, but I sure learned a lot about Blackmun and the justices' personalities and what clerking is like.
Kinda like what the poster above said, she must have said at least 2 dozen times that clerking was a "24/7/365 job in a literal sense." When she wasn't physically working on something, she was thinking about and stressing over it.
Now she gets paid $250k to be a godawful excuse for a professor and teach 3 classes per year. Yes, I mad.

I hope you aren't talking about Pam Karlan. She teaches Con Law, clerked for Blackmun, and talks about it a lot, but damn is she a good professor.
