Prepping for 3L job search

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Mar 20, 2012 10:14 am

Please rank the following by the bearing they would have on the 3L job search. Assume that networking like hell and mass mailing in every way possible will take place. While doing those things, which activities/resume builders would be most helpful or potentially game changers.

-Write onto flagship law review as 3L
-Write onto legitimately regarded secondary journal as a 3L
-Write onto a crappier secondary journal as a 3L
-Attain leadership/officer position on moot court team
-Do civil law clinic
-Get published in subject not relevant to desired practice area
-Get published in subject relevant to desired practice area
-Move grades from top 1/3 to top 15%
-Move grades from top 1/3 to slightly higher - positive grade trend - maybe top quarter

Assume: Tier 1/strong regional state school/Southern/on moot court team and other student leadership/summers at a state government office (1L) and small general practice firm (2L). Goal >75k in mid or biglaw, litigation.

Understood that few if any of these are game changers and the 3L job search is basically f*cked. Understood that the job search is priority - these are choices about best way to use time.

Edit: Thank you very much for your time and insight.
