Top Law Schools

Can anyone provide any information WHATSOEVER about either:
1) Fulton County DA
2) N.D.Ga. AUSA

I don't care what you know about these two. Any information will help. I'm a 3L, and I'm interested in ending up in either of these spots.

Barring exceptional circumstances, you aren't going to get an AUSA gig straight out of law school.

What do you want to know? You're not going to get an AUSA job out of LS. If you can clerk, do it. If it's on the 11th Cir or NDGA, even better. Then work in one of the big Atlanta firms for a few years, then you'll have a shot at AUSA.
You have a much better shot at ADA out of LS. But IME they like to hire local kids more than T14 (not sure how that affects you). You better have demonstrated interest/experience in trial/criminal work to get a sniff at ADA. Did you work in criminal law 1L/2L year? Do you do mock trial, etc?

There are pros and cons for both the ADA->AUSA route and the Biglaw->AUSA route. ADAs often have the most trial experience, but they are looked down upon for their perceived (rightly of wrongly) lack of substantive writing skill. Flip it for biglaw refugees. If you can get a spot in a Biglaw firm that gives you trial experience, that's the best of both worlds.

What other DA offices are in Atlanta?
Gwinnett?
Norcross?
Dekalb?
Cobb?

Most people would consider Atlanta proper to be: DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, and Cobb. (Norcross is not a county. It is a city within Gwinnett county.)
Your best shot at NDGA is definitely going to be coming from Fulton or DeKalb.

Fulton hires new grads for the complaint room I think. All I've heard about Fulton is negative. The DA is a jackass. He got arrested one time for assaulting a deputy in a court room. Heard nothing but bad things about him and the general office environment. Turnover is extremely high in Fulton.

Cobb is great. But the DA's office doesn't hire new grads. You would have to start off in the solicitor's office.

More articles on the incompetent jackass. You have to sign a three year contract to as a new ADA in Fulton. If you can bear three years, go for it.
