Got general info in December. Then in January got the online survey to select start date, practice areas, smartphone, etc.

Should be easy enough to contact your HR person. Do it. You won't be annoying - it's their job to let you know.

There's only about 4 people SAing at my office. Haven't heard anything. I imagine they do things much more informally when the class is so small.

+1, although it wouldn't hurt to reach out to the recruiting contact at this point.

Sounds like OP's firm wants to cancel the summer's program...or cares more about their clients than the summer program...or wants to shorten their summer program...

A week ago I found out my start date. Be patient, and you will get all the info you need. And there is no harm in getting in touch with them to see if there is an update.

Just heard back from my firm about a week ago. I wouldn't worry, you'll probably hear something within the next 1-3 weeks.

I summered last year, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get my start date until early March. Be patient, they'll contact you soon enough.

Why? If it's the same firm as yours, you would've heard too.

My start date is the first week of June. Is it standard for the SA to last 8 weeks? I thought it was 10 weeks or more.

depends on the firm and the market

in NYC and other major markets (non-Texas), it's 10 weeks

Oooh. this is is like OCI all over again. Everyone also post if you heard by phone, or by email, and whether it was from a recruiter or from a partner.

My firm sent a mid-level associate down to our school, to hand deliver a gold embossed letter with the start date, along with a rep from their mobile phone supplier with sample smartphones for us to choose from. Blackberry and Apple each took us out for lunch also to sell us on their phone.

FWIW, I'm at a firm in a non-NYC major market and our summer program is only 9 weeks.

I'm just assuming my firm got more resumes from HYS 1Ls and decided to stealth not hire me by never giving me a start date. Clearly the most likely scenario and rational approach.

Congrats to you! - when did they contact you with an offer and when did you apply?
