GW IP LLM (PT) vs. Georgetown LLM (PT) vs. neither

I graduated from a T-14 law school in 2011, but without a job. I started working at the USPTO as a patent examiner. It's a pretty sweet gig, but I still cling to the idea of being a practicing attorney. I passed NY bar, and I will take the patent bar later in the spring. I am considering pursuing an LLM part-time at either Georgetown and GW, focusing almost exclusively on IP. Is the LLM a credited route or can I transition to a firm without it?
Pros:
1. Re-invigorates clerkship apps and firm prospects
2. Develop expertise in IP
Cons
1. Costs
2. Absolutely no guarantee of success, considering the schools (potentially unfair statement but...)

Hey poster: Do you mean clerking without LLM or clerking after getting an LLM?

clerk now dude, if JD is like investing in Enron, an LLM is like investing by placing a large sum of cash into a burning fire.

More info about your grades and technical background would be helpful. I'd be very careful about the LLM route; I generally don't think it's a very good idea.

A master in EE/CS is more useful than a LLM in IP, for both prosecution and litigation.

You can still become an attorney. One of my good friends was a jobless 2010 grad from a T50 that found work at the PTO as an examiner. Six months later he found a gig as a prosecutor at a firm. The LLM won't help. Just get some experience then apply to firms.

Neither, obviously. LLM in IP won't open any doors unless you want to become a professor.
