I would guess somewhere between 3.65 and 3.70, but that is just a guess.

Rumor is ~3.67-3.68.

I ended up with a 3.62 or 3.63 and was Order of the Coif. I think grades during 2L & 3L year tend to converge towards a 3.3 because seminars are still on a curve. A 3.62/3.63 would only be about top 12-15% after 1L year.

They tell you in the fall when they announce the other GPA awards. I believe they send a letter, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong

It'll be mostly the same for 2013, though for future years you can expect it to be a bit higher, yes.

Hmm. If gunners still gun (and we all know gunners gonna gun) then they'll still all take the 'gunner' classes; if they all do well in those classes AND get the benefit of the higher means...I wouldn't be surprised if it goes up pretty quick for c/o 2014. I think 2014 only missed one possible semester of the new system, assuming that traditional 1L electives will rarely, if ever, have a class mean GPA higher than 3.3.

No, that was from somebody who graduated in 2012. They don't announce it until the fall

No, that was from somebody who graduated in 2012. They don't announce it until the fall

Ohhh okay, thank god! I was just about to lose the tiny tiny bit of motivation I had left to care about my 3L grades.

I'm resurrecting this old thread. Does anyone have any more current info? I'm also confused by the fact that estimates above range from 3.62-3.68. That's a pretty big difference.

It's a range because what is top 10% changes from year to year.

I would expect it to be more towards the top end of that range now that some classes are being semi-released from the curve, so GPAs will be a bit higher.

i had a 3.70 and got it, which is all i really know. the slightly changed grading scale should have some of an impact, perhaps.

Just to be clear, you know if you are on it after 3L year/graduation near Sept?. I thought they announce it during the walk/ceremony.

They do not announce it at graduation. Indeed, they state that end-of-year grade awards will be given out in the fall.

Yes, this is right. I have no idea why it takes 4 months to come up with Coif, but it does.

I also found out that I got a graduation award in August, about 3 months after graduation, so you know they're on top of their game
