Do Employers look at UnderGrad GPA?
And if so, what is considered good, average or excellent?

1) some do, but it carries a lot less weight than your law school grades
2) it depends, use your common sense

Cravath def asked for an undergrad transcript. They weren't the only one, but the only specific one I remember.

I'd really appreciate knowing who else does this.

Cravath and some IP firms are the only ones I know that look for UG at 2L OCI.

bingham asked for mine but i cant think of another firm that did.

an associate on a hiring committee at a firm that used to ask for ugpa told me that theyre looking less at your overall gpa and more at what you took.

In Boston at least, most asked for UG grades - I'm unsure how much weight they put on them. Law school grades trump all obviously, but I could see a really selective firm preferring someone with honors in UG and law school - for the website at least.

This. Accepted at non Cravath V10, was never asked for UG grades. Only place I interviewed that wanted grades was Cravath. Nobody else cared. Thank god since I split like a mofo.

One of my favorite moments of LOLCI was a partner asking me "OUT of what?" when I said 2.8. LOL IP firms.

Seward asks for undergrad. Many federal judges ask for it.

Yeah, but "took" probably doesn't include "got a D in."

I've had multiple 1L IP recruiters who like my resume ask for my undergrad transcript, then tell me to get lost. I don't think IP is in my future.

I didn't get an offer anywhere that saw my UG transcript. I got one callback at a place that saw it, but at the CB they grilled me on my UG grades.

However, most big law firms that do IP lit, don't ask.

I am aiming for IP lit, and every firm I applied to asked for my UG grades. Probably because of my major? They also seemed to want to talk to me more about UG than law school.

You are 1L. They focus on that more for 1L because when they start recruiting in December it's all you have. Firms that asked for my grades for 1L, never asked for 2L.

As a general rule, IP boutiques ask for UG grades. Big Law doesn't.

That's what I've seen on TLS before. It's nice to see confirmed.

And I think Cravath is flamming about UG too. I know a dood who got a sub 2.6 with an offer there.

I have a 4.0 in CS, and going for lit. Sense is if I had EE it would be easier.
