I need help assessing the value of a job I've been offered this summer at the EPA's Office of Enforcement in DC.
I'm a 2L at a top 25 with top 10% and LR. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do after school, but clerking is something I'm interested in. Just getting any job is another one of my interests.
How valuable is this EPA position in light of those goals? They say they get about 2,000 apps a year for the 60 positions they fill. But who doesn't get a shitload of apps anymore?

Re: This Summer
based on my personal anecdotes it isn't that valuable.
e.g. middling people from a T25 get this internship all the time.
if you want to clerk, make sure that you keep up your grades or try to push your gpa up (in case you do not find a clerkship right out of law school). also, try getting a paper published, either in LR or other school's secondary journals.

Re: This Summer
OP here.
Thanks. That's a bit depressing. If it were you would you continue to look for whatever scraps of firm jobs are left out there and turn down EPA? Or (esp. at this point) would you follow the "a bird in the hand..." adage?
Anyone else?

Re: This Summer
you cant split the summer can you?
if I were you I wouldn't be too worried. after all you have great grades and are on LR. Just keep it up!
by the way, do you live in a city where there are plenty of opportunities to intern at law firms during the year?
