I would think if the firm has a policy prohibiting it that you've been actually or constructively made aware of, then don't do it, otherwise it's fair game.

I can't possibly see how it could lead to good results though, given that you'll likely be working closely that person for the next 2+ years. Just sounds awkward and unnecessary.

Even worse than teh lawcest. In school, there is a chance that you will work at the same firm at graduation. As a summer associate, there is a very good chance that you will work at the same firm at graduation.

Nah, just too much chance of it turning out badly. If it turns out badly (as it often does), you leave that person with a loaded gun to torpedo you in a way no outsider can. Bang summers from other firms. They will be easy to find in a big city over the summer.

Hooking up with summers is amateur hour. Don't even post unless you step your game up to associates, and know that summers in classes before you have hooked up with - and even wound up dating / marrying - partners. Go big or go home.

Back when I was a summer, I hooked up with over 50% of the summer class. Granted, over half of the summer class was male, but you can't be picky ITE.
