Adding people on Linkedin

If you have accepted a summer offer, when/is it appropriate to add the people you met with from HR and the firm on Linkedin? Now? During the summer? After?

What about adding recruiters for positions you had to turn down (who you haven't met), but with whom you want to keep in touch for the future? Is it just plain weird to add people you haven't met?

Not sure about the legal world, but recruiters on the business side love to add tons of people on LinkedIn to stay in touch with them. This is probably a good idea.
