I have all B's at my T2 with a "3.0 curve" but according to my schools website my 3.0 puts me in the bottom 38%? The median student is like a 3.08 or something. I'm on a tiny scholarship... drop out?
Also how does this happen I'm super confused

Curves are suggested and imperfect, so professors err on the side of caution and give one or two more of each higher grade on the curve and the median gets skewed.

When a school says "3.0 curve," that generally means the median grade in each class is a B. That does not mean, however, that the average grade is a B (in fact, it's almost certainly higher). Each person's GPA is an average, so you then take the median of the averages, you'll get a median GPA above a B.
To illustrate, say the curve is:
10% B- and below
50% B
20% B+
10% A-
10% A
The median grade on this curve is a B. But over 4 classes (or 8 classes) the median student is going to get mostly Bs, with maybe a B+ sprinkled in, or a B- or A- if he gets lucky (or unlucky). This will give him an average that is higher than a B.

Median and median rank only line up if the school has a tiered curve.

wow. I was strait up told by an alum that bottom 50% does not get jobs now. I'll see how tight the curve is in case I could make a comeback, but this will probably ensure I drop out.

For a T2, assuming you want to practice law outside a 1-5 person practice, that's probably reasonable advice.

This shouldn't be news to you after deciding to attend.
But sorry about the grades. If you have a scholarship or something may as well try to learn from your mistakes and try to get above median next semester.

What about drop out opinions for the same thing at a T20? 1L was as OP described. 2L seems to have been way better last semester, but grades aren't out until next week. I think, if they are the same, dropping out isn't a bad idea. If they are much better, than it might be worth it on a small scholarship. Still, I guess, it depends on whether I get a decent summer position. 1L grades closed OCI, so the hunt continues.
