This is not strictly employment related, but I am curious.

i intern at a mid-sized firm and today there are hardly any people around, except the receptionist and a few paralegals.

at your firm, do people take two weeks off around this time of the year?

what about law firms in general (small/mid-sized/ large)?

I mean, it is (sort of) the holidays, right?

What kind of law do the vacationing attorneys practice? Some practices (litigation) have lots of inflexible, unpredictable deadlines, but also have periodic lulls. Tax law has deadlines of its own. And if you have corporate clients, they have likely been on vacation themselves and not sending work to attorneys.
