Credit load concerns

I'm a 3L in a JD/LLM program with a firm SA next summer. Every semester of law school, I've taken 14-16 credits. I only need 8 to graduate in the spring, but I intend to register for a full course load. However, my favorite professor is offering a non-credit advanced version of his specialty for interested students. It would be about 3 credits of work, just not final or record on my transcript. As of now, I'm registered for 11 credits and on the wait-list for 2 more credits. Will my firm consider it slacking off if I just took the minimum to stay full-time of 12 credits? I could explain if they asked that it is really 15 credits with this guy's non-credit course factored in, but I'm afraid they won't ask and will just ding me as being lazy.
